What is a Vet Center?
Vet Centers are not hospitals. They are small, private counseling offices in the community, run by VA. They offer free, confidential counseling to eligible Veterans, service members, and their families in a relaxed, non-medical setting. Services include individual and group counseling, couples and family counseling, help with military sexual trauma, grief counseling, and referrals to other VA and community resources.
Vet Center counseling is confidential, and it costs nothing. You don't need to be enrolled in VA health care or have a disability rating. Vet Centers are community offices, separate from VA medical sites, which VA says is meant to protect confidentiality and lower barriers to care. If you have questions about what is written down and who can see it, ask the counselor when you call — it is a normal question and they expect it.

FindaVetCenter is built and run by No Veteran Alone, Inc., a 501(c)(19) veterans organization in Northbrook, Illinois. It is free to use. We do not show ads and we do not sell data. The directory is in beta ahead of its full launch on Veterans Day, November 11, 2026.
